MP BJP Chief Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Spreading Misinformation Over SIR

Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal on Thursday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the public over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and undermining people’s trust in democratic institutions.

Speaking at a press conference held at the state BJP headquarters, Khandelwal said the SIR exercise was not a new initiative, pointing out that it had been conducted 12 times in the country, including 10 occasions during Congress-led governments.

He also rejected Rahul Gandhi’s claim that 13 crore names had been deleted from electoral rolls, describing the allegation as misleading.

Khandelwal said the verification process was necessary to ensure the accuracy and transparency of voter lists. He added that removing the names of deceased individuals, voters who had permanently relocated and duplicate entries was part of the exercise.

The BJP leader maintained that such measures were essential to improve the reliability of electoral rolls and safeguard the integrity of the democratic process.
