Union Home Minister Amit Shah has strongly criticised Maoist ideology, stating that it has never benefited society and has only resulted in destruction, fear, and underdevelopment across several regions of the country. Calling Maoism a barrier to peace and progress, Amit shah appealed to Maoist cadres to lay down arms and join the democratic mainstream.
Shah said decades of Maoist violence have harmed the poorest sections of society, especially in tribal areas, by blocking development, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Emphasising the government’s dual approach of firm action and compassionate rehabilitation, he assured surrendered Maoists of dignified rehabilitation, security, and opportunities for a better life.
Highlighting the steady decline of Left-wing extremism, the Home Minister said many once-affected districts are now on the path of peace and development due to effective security measures and focused welfare initiatives. Amit Shah reiterated that the Centre is determined to completely eradicate Maoist violence while ensuring inclusive growth, urging extremists to choose dialogue, democracy, and development over violence.
