Kerala’s E-Health Revolution: 800 Public Health Facilities Now Digitally Connected

Kerala has rolled out its e-Health system across 800 government health institutions statewide. Announcing the milestone, Health Minister Veena George said the initiative is transforming patient care by making hospitals smarter, faster, and more accessible.

The digital network now spans 18 medical college wings, 33 district/general hospitals, 88 taluk hospitals, 48 community health centres, 512 family health centres, 79 urban family health centres, 14 specialty hospitals, 3 public health labs, and other facilities.

More than 2.62 crore citizens have registered for Unique Health IDs (UHIDs), and over 15.27 lakh patients have already received treatment through the system. The platform also saw 8.88 crore temporary registrations.

Patients can now book OP tickets online, schedule follow-up visits, and access prescriptions, lab reports, and medical history digitally. The m-eHealth app and QR-based ‘Scan & Book’ feature further streamline the hospital experience, eliminating long queues and delays.

Officials say this e-Health expansion marks a turning point in public health delivery, setting a new national benchmark for digitally integrated, patient-friendly healthcare. The state plans to extend the service to all public hospitals, reinforcing Kerala’s leadership in health sector innovation.
