NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Jay Meena on securing a bronze medal in the men’s individual soft tennis event at the Asian Games, making him India’s first-ever medallist in the sport at the continental competition.
The Prime Minister described the achievement as a historic moment for Indian soft tennis and said Meena’s medal has opened a new chapter for the sport in the country.
Modi expressed hope that the landmark performance would encourage more young athletes to take up soft tennis and pursue excellence at the international level.
“Congratulations to Jay Meena on winning Bronze in the Men’s Individual event and becoming India’s first-ever Asian Games medallist in Soft Tennis,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to Meena for his future sporting career.
