ISRO Set to Launch ESA’s Proba-3 Mission to Study the Sun’s Corona

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up to launch the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba-3 mission, a groundbreaking project designed to study the Sun’s corona. Scheduled for an upcoming launch, the mission will employ cutting-edge technology to investigate the outer atmosphere of the Sun, shedding light on solar activities and their impact on space weather.

Proba-3 will consist of two spacecraft flying in precise formation to create an artificial solar eclipse, allowing scientists to observe the corona without interference from the Sun’s intense glare. This marks a significant collaboration between ISRO and ESA, showcasing India’s growing prominence in international space missions.

The data collected is expected to advance our understanding of solar phenomena, including coronal mass ejections and their effects on Earth’s magnetosphere, crucial for safeguarding satellites and power grids from solar storms.
