Thiruvananthapuram – Isolated rain is likely in parts of Kerala today, though no district has been placed under a specific weather warning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), districts including Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod may experience moderate rainfall at isolated locations. Strong winds with speeds up to 40 km/h are also expected in some areas.
A high wave and coastal intrusion alert has been issued by the National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) for coastal areas between Kunjathur and Kottakkunnu in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The alert is in effect from 11:30 PM tonight (July 30) to 8:30 PM tomorrow. Waves are expected to reach heights between 2.9 to 3.0 meters during this period.
Fisherfolk and coastal residents have been advised to remain cautious due to the risk of coastal erosion and sea incursion. Authorities warn of rough sea conditions and urge people in vulnerable areas to relocate as per official instructions. Small boats and fishing vessels should avoid venturing into the sea during this time.
All beach-related tourism activities, including recreational visits to the seashore, must be completely suspended until the warning is lifted. Fishing boats and vessels must be securely moored at harbors, maintaining a safe distance between them to avoid collisions. Ensure the safety of all fishing equipment and strictly avoid any trips to the beach or sea. Extra caution is advised due to the potential for severe coastal erosion.
