Australia to Appoint First Female Military Chief

Australia: Australia is set to make history with the appointment of Susan Coyle as the country’s first female military chief, marking a significant shift in its 125-year military history.

Currently serving as the head of the Joint Forces Command, Lieutenant General Coyle will assume office in July, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Monday.

Her appointment comes as part of broader efforts by the Australian Defence Force to increase female representation within its ranks. The force has set a target of achieving 25 per cent women personnel by 2030.

Coyle’s elevation is seen as a milestone in promoting gender diversity and leadership within Australia’s military establishment.
