India’s First Dolphin Ambulance Rescues Eight Ganga Dolphins in Four Months

India’s first Dolphin Rescue Ambulance under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has rescued and released eight Ganga dolphins in the past four months, officials said on Thursday.

Sharing details of the latest operation in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, the NMCG said an adult male Ganga dolphin was found stranded in shallow canal waters after getting cut off from the river.

The rescue operation was carried out jointly by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and the Turtle Survival Alliance India team. After nearly 13 hours of effort, the dolphin was safely rescued, medically examined and released back into the Rapti River.
