Indian Navy to Commission Third Anti-Submarine Warfare Craft on October 12

Mumbai: The Indian Navy will commission Mangrol, the third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on October 12, 2026.

The ceremony will be presided over by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Built with over 80 per cent indigenous content under the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, Mangrol is equipped with advanced sonar, lightweight torpedoes and indigenous anti-submarine systems to detect and counter underwater threats.

Powered by three diesel engines with waterjet propulsion, the vessel is designed for operations in coastal and shallow waters. Its induction will strengthen the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities and enhance the protection of ports, harbours and coastal areas.
