IMD Conducts Cyclone Warning, Marine Weather Training for Stakeholders

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) conducted a training workshop on cyclone warnings and marine weather services, attracting more than 650 stakeholders, disaster managers and media representatives.

IMD Director General of Meteorology Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra highlighted advances in cyclone forecasting, coordination among agencies and the media’s role in ensuring warnings reach vulnerable communities.

Experts explained cyclone warning and marine weather services for coastal communities, fishermen, ports and maritime stakeholders. The workshop also featured a demonstration of IMD’s Cyclone and Marine Weather Services Decision Support System, an integrated platform designed to support timely decision-making by the public and disaster managers.

The programme was streamed live and is available on YouTube for public viewing.
