India Likely to Receive 90% of Average Monsoon Rainfall, Says IMD

India is expected to receive 90 per cent of its long period average (LPA) rainfall during the Southwest monsoon season this year, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

In its second forecast for the Southwest monsoon, released on Friday, the IMD said rainfall across the country is likely to remain below normal overall.

However, the weather agency noted that the Northeastern region is expected to experience normal rainfall during the monsoon season, while most other parts of the country may receive below normal rainfall.

The latest forecast by the IMD comes as authorities and farmers closely monitor monsoon patterns, which play a crucial role in agriculture and water resources across the country.
