New Delhi: The Centre has said it has successfully ensured uninterrupted fertilizer availability across the country despite global supply chain disruptions caused by the conflict in West Asia.
The government said the 2025-26 conflict affected imports of key raw materials such as ammonia, phosphoric acid, sulphur and potash, leading to higher freight costs, shipment delays and price volatility.
To tackle the challenges, India diversified import sources, facilitated long-term supply agreements, worked with Indian missions abroad to identify alternative suppliers, and promoted collective procurement by fertilizer companies.
The Department of Fertilizers, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and State governments, also implemented seasonal supply plans and closely monitored fertilizer movement across the country.
The government said these measures have ensured adequate availability of urea, DAP, MOP and NPKS fertilizers during FY 2025-26 and the ongoing Kharif 2026 season.
