Bucharest: President Droupadi Murmu was on Friday conferred an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (BUES) during her State Visit to Romania.
The honorary degree, the university’s highest academic distinction, is awarded to eminent personalities in recognition of their exceptional contributions to academia, public service and international cooperation.
President Murmu, who arrived in Romania on Thursday, received the honour at a special ceremony attended by university officials and dignitaries.
Accepting the award, the President said she was deeply honoured to receive the prestigious doctorate and expressed gratitude to the university for the recognition.
Murmu is on a State Visit to Romania aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between the two countries across key sectors.
