IMD Issues Orange Alert in Eight Kerala Districts Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Kerala today and issued Orange Alerts for eight districts: Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Yellow Alerts have been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and other affected districts, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall.

For tomorrow, Orange Alerts have been declared in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. The IMD has also warned of strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph until tomorrow.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, as unsecured hoardings, weakened electric poles, flagpoles, and trees at risk of falling may pose dangers during strong winds. Local bodies and residents have been advised to remove hazardous trees and reinforce vulnerable structures during periods without rain to prevent accidents and damage.
