Thiruvananthapuram: In a swift update to its weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod, warning of isolated heavy rainfall across these districts today.
The revised alert comes after earlier predictions had indicated no severe weather warnings. Now, all districts in Kerala are expected to receive rainfall, with a yellow alert declared in the remaining regions.
While the IMD expects a dip in rainfall intensity from Monday, intermittent heavy showers are likely to persist in northern Kerala districts through Thursday.
Rain Alert Breakdown:
- Sunday & Monday: Yellow alert in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Yellow alert in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod
Authorities have urged the public and local bodies to remain vigilant, especially in low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to mitigate any potential weather-related risks.
