Heavy Rain Likely in Kerala Till Wednesday; Yellow Alert Issued in Several Districts

Kerala is likely to receive heavy rainfall till Wednesday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation formed over the Arabian Sea, weather officials said.

The cyclonic circulation has developed over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining areas of Sri Lanka. Due to its impact, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal by May 11.

Authorities have also warned of strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph along with rain in several parts of the state.

A yellow alert has been issued for multiple districts over the next few days. On Sunday, alerts are in place for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts.

On Monday, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts will remain under yellow alert, while on Tuesday the warning has been issued for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

For Wednesday, yellow alerts have been announced in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
