Gurvayur Devaswom disburses about five crores rupees to its 793 temples.

Guruvayur, Jan  22 (IVC)  The  Guruvayur   Devaswom  Managing Committee(GDMC) , owners of the famous Sree   Krishna Temple here,  has disbursed   in all  Rs 4.84  ( Four  crore  and eighty-four lakshs) crore  to  793 temples said to be economically backward} under    the jurisdiction of the GDMC,  the official sources said  here today.

The  sources said that  Rs  3.44  crore  has disbursed  to 541  temples on Jan 21. Earlier , as the first phase of  disbursal of funds,  Devaswom had paid Rs 1.40 crore  to its 542 temples under the Southern Zone last  month.

                The amount  was  disbursed  by the Kerala’s Minister for Devaswoms , K  Radhakrishnan. The  minister said on the occasion that the State Government had given  Rs  528 crores  to four devaswoms  in the  current fiascal.

                Sree  Krishna Temple here had a corban collection of Rs  6 crore  for a period of one month ending  on January 15.  Besides , gold  weighing 2.415 kg    and silver weighing 13.340  kilogram and the corban received by E-mail amounted to Rs 2.07  lakh, the  sources added.

                The devotees of Guruvayurappan  also  deposited in the Hundis at the temple  the demonetized  Indian currency notes    to the tune of Rs 1..07 lakh  for  the period of one month from Decembr 15, 2023 to January  15, 2024  with the denominations   of 2000  numbering 45,  40 notes  of 1000  and 153  notes  of 500,  the  sources added.
