The Religious Library of the Guruvayur Devaswom will celebrate Reading Day on June 19 with a series of cultural and literary programmes.
As part of the celebrations, Shyamala Anand and Vineeth, selected as the library’s best readers, will be honoured. Former Secretary of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Dr. P. V. Krishnan Nair, will be felicitated for his outstanding contributions to literature, while V. Murali will be honoured for his contributions to library activities.
The cultural conference, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Sree Guruvayurappan Auditorium, will be inaugurated by Guruvayur Devaswom Chairman A. V. Gopinath. He will also distribute prizes to winners of quiz and essay competitions conducted for school and college students as part of the Reading Day celebrations.
The function will be presided over by Devaswom Managing Committee member Brahmasree Mallissery Parameswaran Namboodiripad. Committee member M. U. Shinij will deliver the welcome address.
Poet and renowned teacher Radhakrishnan Kakkassery will deliver the Reading Day message. Devaswom Managing Committee members C. Manoj, Manoj B. Nair and K. S. Balagopal will attend the programme.
Library Advisory Committee members V. P. Unnikrishnan and Shaju Puthur will introduce the award recipients to the gathering. K. G. Suresh Kumar, Manager of the Publications Division, will propose the vote of thanks.
