Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are on a meteoric rise, smashing records and edging closer to the ₹70,000 milestone. With a steep hike of ₹1,480 per sovereign (8 grams) today alone, the price has reached an all-time high of ₹69,960. Per gram, the rate now stands at ₹8,745 — a ₹185 jump.
In just three days, gold has become over ₹4,000 costlier, driven by global market volatility and investors seeking the safety of precious metals amid stock market uncertainty. Yesterday’s spike of ₹2,160 was the single-largest one-day increase during this rally.
This upward trend follows a brief five-day decline, with the price first hitting ₹66,000 on April 18. Notably, gold crossed the ₹60,000 threshold for the first time on January 22, setting the stage for this historic surge.
With momentum building, all eyes are now on whether gold will break the ₹70,000 barrier in the coming days.
