Srinagar: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an increase of 50 MBBS seats at the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, beginning with the 2026–27 academic year.
With the approval, the annual MBBS intake at the college will increase from 200 to 250 seats, according to an official spokesperson.
The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department said the expansion is aimed at strengthening medical education and improving healthcare delivery in the Union Territory. Officials said the additional seats will help produce more qualified doctors to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region.
