Drone Attack Causes Fire at Fujairah Petroleum Site; Flights Temporarily Suspended in Dubai

A fire broke out at a petroleum industry facility in Fujairah after a drone attack, according to an official statement from the Fujairah Government Media Office. Emergency teams quickly responded and confirmed that the fire was limited to a small area of the facility. No injuries were reported.

Authorities said the situation was brought under control within a short time. Investigations are continuing to find more details about the incident.

Meanwhile, authorities in Dubai reported disruptions near Dubai International Airport after another drone-related incident on Monday, March 16. The UAE Civil Aviation Authority announced that flights from the airport were temporarily suspended, though officials have not yet confirmed when normal operations will fully resume.

According to airport officials, one of the fuel tanks near the airport was affected by the drone incident, but the fire was quickly controlled by emergency services.

Dubai Police said traffic around the airport, including roads and tunnels leading to the terminal, was temporarily blocked for safety reasons. Traffic has now resumed in most parts of the city, though a partial closure on Airport Road remains.

Airline operations were also affected. Emirates temporarily suspended some flights to Dubai, and several routes were redirected to Al Maktoum International Airport.

According to reports cited by Reuters, this is the third such incident near Dubai International Airport since tensions increased in the Persian Gulf region. Ongoing military tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran have raised concerns about the impact on regional security and international aviation.

Officials are continuing to monitor the situation while security measures have been increased around key facilities and airports.
