Dense Fog Envelops Delhi-NCR: 45 Trains Delayed, Flights Unaffected; Rain and Thunderstorms Predicted Today

New Delhi: A thick blanket of fog covered Delhi and the surrounding NCR regions, including Noida, on Friday morning, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting rail services. According to railway officials, 45 trains have been delayed due to poor visibility caused by the dense fog.

However, despite the foggy conditions, flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport are functioning normally, providing relief to air travelers. Airport authorities have advised passengers to check flight statuses before leaving for the airport as a precaution.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Delhi and its neighboring areas later today, which could further impact traffic and travel conditions. The combination of fog and impending rain is expected to worsen road visibility, prompting authorities to urge commuters to exercise caution.

The IMD also reported that the temperature in the capital dipped significantly, intensifying the winter chill across northern India. Visibility at several key junctions in Delhi dropped to nearly 50 meters early in the morning, affecting daily commuters and freight services.

Travelers are advised to stay updated on weather and traffic alerts and plan their journeys accordingly.
