Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees by 3%, raising it from 12% to 15%. The decision also applies to pensioners, whose Dearness Relief (DR) has been similarly increased. The state finance department has issued an order in this regard, and the revised rates will be effective from April.
The increase will benefit government employees, teachers, aided school and college staff, polytechnic employees, local body employees, and full-time contingent staff. Pensioners, including those receiving state service pensions, family pensions, ex-gratia pensions, and ex-gratia family pensions, will also see an increase in their benefits.
With this revision, the DA hike will result in an additional payment ranging from ₹690 to ₹3,711, depending on the basic salary. Employees with longer service periods will see increases based on their pay scale. The hike is also applicable to part-time teachers and contingent staff.
