Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister Veena George has flown to Delhi to discuss the ongoing ASHA workers’ strike with the Central government.
The minister is expected to meet Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and highlight the demands of ASHA workers, including a hike in honorarium and retirement benefits. The move comes as ASHA workers in Kerala continue their protest after multiple rounds of talks with the state government failed to yield results.
The Kerala government has maintained that ASHA workers fall under a Central scheme, and any major decision regarding their wages must be taken by the Union government.
