New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday congratulated the Indian men’s hockey team for winning the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge extended his congratulations to the team for its victory.
“Heartiest congratulations to the Indian Men’s Hockey Team on winning the Gold Medal at the #AsianGames2026,” Kharge said.
He also praised captain Harmanpreet Singh for leading the team from the front with two goals. Jugraj Singh, Hardik Singh and Shilanand Lakra also found the net as India defeated Malaysia 5-1 in the final.
The victory enabled India to retain its Asian Games men’s hockey title and marked the country’s first successful defence of the gold medal in the event.
