New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a superintendent in the office of the Commissioner of CGST and Central Excise and a CGST consultant in connection with an alleged Rs 1 crore bribery case, officials said.
The arrests followed the registration of an FIR by the agency on Wednesday based on a complaint filed by the project head of a private real estate company in New Panvel, in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
The company was carrying out the redevelopment of two buildings in Sector 17 of New Panvel in Navi Mumbai. The project included 24 flats owned by the CGST and Central Excise, Raigad Commissionerate.
The CBI initiated the investigation after receiving allegations of a Rs 1 crore bribe demand in connection with the redevelopment project. Further investigation is underway.
