Investigators probing the alleged NEET examination paper leak have arrested another student from Nashik, taking the total number of arrests across five states to nine.
According to officials, the question paper was allegedly leaked through the messaging platform Telegram. The newly arrested student has been identified as Shubham Khairnar, who is accused of paying Rs 10 lakh to obtain the leaked paper.
Police have also taken into custody a man identified as Manish Yadav, who is suspected to be one of the key conspirators behind the leak.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the conspiracy to leak the examination paper originated in Nashik. Officials said the leaked question paper was reportedly circulated in several states, including Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
