Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday stressed the importance of preserving Indian languages and urged every young person to learn at least one Indian language in addition to their mother tongue.
Speaking after inaugurating the ‘Museum of Word’ (Shabdalok) in Kolkata, Shah said protecting India’s linguistic diversity is essential to preserving the country’s civilisational identity.
Describing the country’s first immersive language museum as a significant initiative, Shah said it represents “a major step to revitalise the country’s cultural heritage.”
Developed by the National Library under the Union Ministry of Culture, the Museum of Word showcases India’s rich linguistic heritage and traces the evolution of its oral and written traditions through interactive, technology-driven exhibits.
