Allahabad HC Grants Bail to Man Accused of Running Fake Embassy

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Harshvardhan Jain, who is accused of posing as a diplomat and operating a fake embassy from a rented house in Ghaziabad.

Harshvardhan was arrested last year for allegedly running the fraudulent operation in the Kavi Nagar area, claiming to represent fictitious nations.

In its April 2 order, Justice Srivastava noted that, considering the nature of the allegations, severity of punishment, and available evidence, a case for granting bail was made out. The court also took into account the possibility of witness tampering and other relevant factors, while clarifying that it was not commenting on the merits of the case.

The case had drawn attention due to the unusual nature of the alleged fraud involving a fake diplomatic setup.
