Google has announced a massive $15 billion (₹1.25 lakh crore) investment to establish a world-class Artificial Intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The announcement came during “Bharat AI Shakti,” an event organized by Google ahead of the India–AI Impact Summit 2026.

The project, developed in partnership with the Adani Group, will feature India’s largest data center campus, powered by green energy and connected through an expanded fiber-optic network to support next-generation AI innovation. Once complete, the Visakhapatnam hub will stand as Google’s biggest facility outside the United States, marking a new chapter in the company’s global AI expansion.

“This will be Google’s largest AI investment outside the U.S.,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, during the formal signing ceremony.

Top dignitaries including Union IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the event, highlighting the national significance of the initiative.

Expressing his vision for India’s digital transformation, Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated on X (formerly Twitter): “With our first AI hub in Visakhapatnam, we aim to bring cutting-edge technology to Indian businesses and users, accelerating the nation’s growth.”

The Adani Enterprises–AdaniConneX joint venture will lead the development of the AI data center campus and associated green energy infrastructure, reinforcing Google’s commitment to sustainability and India’s rise as a global AI powerhouse.
