Kochi: After a record-breaking surge, gold prices in Kerala saw a marginal correction today. The rate of one sovereign (8 grams) slipped by ₹240, bringing the price to ₹84,600, while the price per gram fell by ₹30 to ₹10,575.
The dip comes a day after prices skyrocketed by ₹1,920 in two jumps, pushing gold to an all-time high. Rates had breached the ₹83,000 mark early on Tuesday and shot up by another ₹1,000 by noon, nearly touching ₹84,000.
Gold has seen a steep rally this month, climbing from ₹77,640 per sovereign at the beginning of September and crossing the ₹80,000 milestone for the first time on September 9.
Analysts point to global market trends and a rising demand for gold as a safe-haven investment amid uncertainty as the key drivers behind the price rally.
