Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala continue their record-breaking surge, with rates climbing sharply to touch a new peak. On Thursday, the yellow metal jumped ₹560 per sovereign, pushing the price to an unprecedented ₹81,600 per sovereign. The price per gram also rose by ₹70, now standing at ₹10,200.
This rally marks a dramatic rise from the start of September, when gold was at its monthly low of ₹77,640 per sovereign. Since then, prices have shown an almost daily upward trend, pausing only briefly yesterday before resuming the climb.
Experts attribute the spike to global gold market trends, coupled with U.S. tariffs of 50% on certain Indian imports and a growing shift towards gold as a safe-haven asset amid economic uncertainties.
