Kerala to Challenge Supreme Court Ruling on Teachers’ Eligibility Test

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has decided to legally challenge the recent Supreme Court verdict on the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), which the state government says could jeopardize the future of thousands of educators.

Education Minister V. Sivankutty stated that the ruling may adversely impact nearly 50,000 teachers across Kerala, and assured that the government will take all necessary steps to protect their interests. The state will soon file a review petition, emphasizing Kerala’s unique education model and its longstanding teacher recruitment practices.

The verdict has sparked concerns among teachers’ unions, with many urging the state to ensure that their careers and service conditions remain unaffected.
