Gaya (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth between ₹12,000 and ₹13,000 crore in Gaya, marking a massive boost to Bihar’s infrastructure, healthcare, power, and tourism sectors.
Among the highlights, the 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant worth ₹6,880 crore was inaugurated to strengthen Bihar’s energy capacity, while the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur was opened to provide world-class oncology care. Modi also launched key urban development works under AMRUT 2.0 worth ₹1,260 crore in towns such as Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, and Jamui, alongside a ₹520 crore sewage treatment plant in Munger under the Namami Gange mission.
In transport, the Prime Minister flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) and the Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma) to improve connectivity and tourism. He also handed over keys to over 16,000 housing beneficiaries under PMAY schemes and announced an industrial corridor and Bihar’s largest industrial area in Dobhi, Gaya, promising new jobs and economic growth.
Addressing the gathering, Modi hailed the cultural and spiritual significance of “Gaya Ji”, the land of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment, and lauded the Bihar government’s recognition of this heritage. Reaffirming his government’s commitment to inclusive growth, he noted that over 4 crore pucca homes have been delivered nationwide in the past 11 years under housing schemes.
The projects, cutting across power, health, housing, industry, and infrastructure, reflect a comprehensive development push for Bihar, all unveiled in one landmark event.
