NTA Removes Over 50 Staff Amid UGC-NET Re-Exam Controversy

New Delhi: Facing criticism over the re-examination of three UGC-NET subjects following errors in question papers, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday removed more than 50 staff members and initiated a major overhaul of its examination system.

The agency has also brought in professionals for key leadership positions as part of measures aimed at strengthening its examination processes and preventing errors in future tests.

The move came amid renewed criticism from opposition parties and student groups, who staged protests in New Delhi following the NTA’s announcement on Sunday night that candidates in three UGC-NET subjects would have to appear for a fresh examination.

The protesters demanded that the NTA be scrapped, alleging that its repeated lapses were adversely affecting students’ academic and career plans.

NTA sources, however, said the agency had acted in the best interests of students. They added that internal procedures and examination protocols were being reviewed to ensure that all future examinations are conducted fairly and without errors.
