Trump Announces Iran-Israel Ceasefire, But Silence from Tehran and Tel Aviv Raises Doubts

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is officially in effect, urging both nations to honor the agreement and avoid further escalation. Posting on his platform Truth Social, Trump reiterated that hostilities had ceased and warned against any breach of the truce.

However, the lack of official confirmation from both Iran and Israel has cast uncertainty over the announcement. Though Iranian state media Press TV reported that the ceasefire began at 7:30 a.m., missile attacks allegedly continued, with a fresh strike in southern Israel reportedly killing four civilians.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi lauded the Iranian military for its resilience and insisted that Israel was the aggressor. He said Iran would cease retaliatory operations only if Israel ended its attacks first. “The next move is up to Israel,” Araghchi declared.

Amid the confusion, U.S. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard hailed Trump’s announcement as a “historic breakthrough”, crediting him with steering the region toward peace. “Only President Trump could have achieved this. It’s a step forward for Israel, Iran, the Middle East — and the entire world,” Gabbard posted on X (formerly Twitter).

With tensions still simmering, global observers are watching closely for any official confirmation or signs of de-escalation from the region.
