The Congress party has officially closed the chapter on the controversy sparked by Shashi Tharoor’s article praising Kerala’s entrepreneurial growth. AICC General Secretary (Organisation), K.C. Venugopal, confirmed that the party had engaged in discussions with Tharoor regarding the issue. Tharoor, in turn, assured the party that he would reconsider his stance if more accurate data becomes available on the subject.
Venugopal emphasized that the party does not wish to prolong the debate and reiterated that there is no dissent among Congress leaders on the matter. Tharoor’s article, published in The New Indian Express, highlighted the positive aspects of Kerala’s industrial growth. However, it had raised concerns within the party regarding the accuracy and representation of the data.
The Congress leader concluded by reaffirming the party’s focus on acknowledging the positive achievements in both state and central governance. With this, the matter appears to be resolved, and no further disputes are anticipated within the party.
