After years of anticipation, the Kerala state cabinet has approved the construction of the Sreekariyam flyover in Thiruvananthapuram, a major step towards resolving the city’s traffic congestion. This project, costing ₹71.38 crore, is part of the Light Metro initiative and will cover 535 meters, featuring four lanes and service roads on both sides.
The flyover is a key element of a broader infrastructure upgrade, which includes additional flyovers at Pattom and Ulloor. With land acquisition already completed—totaling 1.34 hectares and requiring the demolition of 168 buildings—the project is set to begin soon. The overall cost, including land, is estimated at ₹136 crore. The construction is expected to be completed in 18 months, but efforts are being made to finish it even sooner
