Researches  on Spice  route  heritage  progresses

T’vm, Aug  22  (IVC)   Initial discussion and research spice route  heritage  project was progressing, according to  official sources.

                The  Kerala Government had entered into an agreement in this connection  with the UNESCO on 01-8-2014. The  Spice  Route  Project  was envisaged  to  implement  excavations  held under the Muziris  Heritage   Project (MHP).

                The  Government  was  planning to  annex Kollam, Ponnani (Malappuram Dist) and Beypore (Kozhikode Dist)  region  as an extension  of the MHP, according to the response to  a  RTI application. Kerala Government’s Tourism Department  had initiated MHP in 2009 with a view to  reviving about  32 heritage  destinations in the Kodungaklloor (Thrissur District)  and Parvur (Ernakulam) region .

                MHP had  completed 15  heritage  destinations   and they were opened  for  public view, the  sources  said.   Museum design work for  eight destinations  were in progress and a total of 9 projects were pending .

                The  Muziris Project in 2018 have  annexed Alappuzha  and identified 37  more  heritage  destinations and public space, the  source  added.

                In  the   subsequent years, the  had  completed the  conservation of three  monuments. Four Museum projects  and sea  pier  projects  are under   progress, the sources added, out  of  37  projects in  Alappuzha,  Heritage Zone, 29  projects were pending. So far  Rs 101, 25,19,272  crores had  been spent  for  the  various  projects  out  of  a total allocation of Rs 161, 28,96,161 crores.
