PM Modi Interacts with India’s Commonwealth Games Champions

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with India’s Commonwealth Games champions and congratulated them for their outstanding performances, highlighting the transformation of Indian sports over the past decade.

Modi said the athletes’ medals and achievements inspire schoolchildren more effectively than promotional campaigns. He praised their perseverance, dedication and patriotism, particularly recalling athletes who overcame injuries and personal hardships to achieve success on the international stage.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing stature of Indian athletes, especially boxers, and credited initiatives such as Khelo India and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for strengthening grassroots training and supporting athletes’ journey to international competition.

Emphasising the need to build a strong sports culture across the country, Modi said infrastructure alone cannot produce champions. He also congratulated the athletes for India’s continued medal-winning performances and encouraged them to maintain their winning momentum.

“You have not merely increased the number of medals; you have prepared a generation,” Modi told the athletes.
