Tungnath Temple Closes for Winter Season

The doors of Tungnath, recognised as the world’s highest Shiva temple, were closed for the winter season on Friday following traditional religious ceremonies and Vedic chants.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 3,680 metres in the Chopta region of Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, the temple was adorned with flowers as part of the closing ceremony.

The ceremony was conducted in accordance with age-old traditions. Temple priest Vedpathi Abhishek Maithani offered prayers and performed the prescribed rituals before the shrine was closed for the winter months.
