Kolkata: A police complaint was filed on Tuesday alleging that a woman carrying a knife attempted to approach former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a threatening manner near her residence in Kolkata’s Kalighat area.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6 pm when Banerjee was on her way to inaugurate a Durga Puja pandal at Milan Sangha in her neighbourhood.
The accused woman was detained, a senior police officer told PTI.
In the complaint, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leader Dola Sen alleged that the incident took place while Banerjee was attending the event.
