Delhi Police detained around 150 protesters who were attempting to reach Jantar Mantar for a proposed demonstration by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
According to police sources, the detentions took place at various locations across the New Delhi area as security personnel stepped up surveillance to prevent crowds from gathering at the protest venue.
Drones were also deployed to monitor the movement of people heading towards Jantar Mantar.
In a separate preventive measure ahead of the planned demonstration, police detained more than 600 people with criminal records across all 15 districts of the national capital, sources said.
Security arrangements were intensified around Jantar Mantar and other key locations in anticipation of the protest. Police personnel were deployed at strategic points to monitor the situation and maintain law and order.
