Cabinet congratulates PM Modi on 25 years of continuous leadership

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years of continuous leadership as head of government.

The resolution highlighted Modi’s leadership journey from Gujarat to the national level and said it was guided by the principles of “Nation First” and “Citizen First”. It noted that three successive mandates in Gujarat and victories in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections reflected public trust in his leadership.

The resolution highlighted 10 key aspects of Modi’s tenure, including development initiatives, poverty alleviation, social empowerment, economic reforms, self-reliance, technology, national security and India’s growing global role.

It cited initiatives such as SWAGAT, PRAGATI and Jyotigram in Gujarat, saying their approaches were later expanded nationally. It also highlighted welfare measures including Jan Dhan accounts, housing schemes, PM-KISAN and PM-JANMAN.

The resolution pointed to reforms such as GST and the replacement of colonial-era laws, along with increased public capital expenditure, expansion of highways and railways, growth in electronics and defence production, and efforts to develop semiconductor manufacturing.

It also highlighted UPI, Aadhaar and digital connectivity, India’s COVID-19 vaccination programme, Chandrayaan-3, and developments in space, artificial intelligence, quantum technology and biotechnology.

On national security, the resolution referred to the 2016 surgical strikes, 2019 Balakot air strikes and 2025 Operation Sindoor, besides the abrogation of Article 370, One Rank One Pension and the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff post.
