The sanitation and waste management measures implemented during this year’s Amarnath Yatra have received national recognition, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting the arrangements in his latest Mann Ki Baat address.
Modi praised the comprehensive sanitation system and the scientific approach adopted for waste management during the annual pilgrimage, which concluded on August 28.
An official spokesperson said the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement recognised the coordinated efforts made to maintain sanitation and manage waste across the challenging Himalayan terrain.
The arrangements were put in place to address the large volume of pilgrims visiting the high-altitude pilgrimage route while ensuring greater cleanliness and environmental protection in the fragile Himalayan region.
