Bhubaneswar: A national workshop on “Mission Zero: Ending Fatalities in Sanitation Work” was held at the State Convention Centre, Lokseva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to strengthen institutional mechanisms and expand mechanised sanitation services across cities.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the workshop, along with senior government officials, urban local bodies, sanitation experts, technology providers, manufacturers, civil society representatives and sanitation workers.
The discussions focused on promoting appropriate technologies, improving operational preparedness and building a safe, dignified and fully mechanised sanitation ecosystem aimed at eliminating fatalities among sanitation workers.
Speaking to the media, Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Sudhansh Pant said achieving zero fatalities in sanitation work is a national priority and called for a whole-of-government approach to ensure sanitation services are delivered safely and with dignity.
