Bhubaneswar: Fresh floods triggered by two days of heavy rainfall have affected at least six districts in Odisha, prompting authorities to move more than 41,000 people to safer locations, officials said on Friday.
According to an official statement, floodwater has affected 429 villages across 52 blocks in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar districts.
The administration has prioritised reaching habitations cut off by floodwater and ensuring the supply of cooked food, safe drinking water, medicines and other essential items, the statement said.
Relief and rescue operations are underway in the affected areas, with authorities closely monitoring the flood situation.
