President Murmu Unveils Mahatma Gandhi Bust in North Macedonia

Skopje: President Droupadi Murmu, along with North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, on Wednesday unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Museum of the City of Skopje.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence belongs to all humanity and remains relevant in a world facing conflict and division. She described the bust as a lasting symbol of friendship between India and North Macedonia and their shared commitment to peace, tolerance and humanity.

Earlier, the two Presidents visited the Mother Teresa Memorial in Skopje, the birthplace of the Nobel laureate, who later moved to India and was honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 1980.

President Murmu will travel to Bucharest, Romania, on July 23 for the final leg of her three-nation visit.
