Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has deployed a commercial helicopter to airlift essential food and medical supplies to several remote villages that have been cut off following flash floods and massive landslides triggered by heavy rainfall over the past week.
The affected villages in Lower Siang district include Rotte, Rame, Loglu, Lipin, Mane, Tene, Sipu, Kakki, Kadu, Rina, Sido and Korang. Collapsed bridges and landslides at multiple locations have completely severed road connectivity, leaving residents stranded.
Following an urgent request from the Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner, the state administration pressed a state-owned Skyone Airways Mi-172 helicopter into service to transport emergency relief materials to the isolated areas, according to an official report.
Authorities are continuing relief operations and closely monitoring the situation as efforts are underway to restore connectivity to the affected villages.
