Harry Kane Has Been the World Cup’s Best Player So Far: Bhaichung Bhutia

New Delhi: Former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia has hailed England skipper Harry Kane as the standout performer of the FIFA World Cup so far, saying the striker has carried his team more effectively than Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappe.

Bhutia said Kane has consistently delivered in crucial moments, helping England overcome tough opponents with match-winning performances.

England topped Group L with two wins and a draw before defeating DR Congo 2-1 to secure a place in the Round of 16. Kane has scored five of England’s eight goals in the tournament, making him one of the leading scorers.

While Messi leads the Golden Boot race with seven goals and Mbappe has six, Kane is close behind with five goals and has played a pivotal role in England’s campaign.

“So far, Harry Kane has been the most impressive because he has really carried England and delivered when it really counted. They’ve had some big, tough matches and Kane is one player who performs in difficult situations,” Bhutia said in an interview with PTI.
